Produced and directed by Damien Chazelle of Whiplash fame, from scripts by Jack Thorne, The Eddy is an upcoming series coming to Netflix focusing on

Taking its title from the Parisian jazz bar the series focuses on, The Eddy follows former New York jazz star Elliott Udo (André Holland) as he navigates life in the city, and is constantly working to keep his small slice of peace and quiet afloat. With mounting debts to thugs and a slew of other issues that arise from maintaining a jazz club (someone’s gotta supply the cigarettes and keep the tuba clean!), The Eddy should be a tight eight-episode run for Netflix.

Chazelle produces the series and directs two of its episodes, with scripts by Jack Thorne. Joanna Kulig, Amandla Stenberg, Leila Bekhti and Tahar Rahim co-star.

The Eddy hits Netflix on May 8th.
