Delayed crime-comedy The Lovebirds is Netflix-bound

Like so many other films of this year, mistaken-identity rom-com The Lovebirds was pulled from its original release date (April 3rd) following the closure of movie theaters amidst the COVD-19 pandemic. At the time, distributor Paramount Pictures did not have a rescheduled plan for The Lovebirds, though today Netflix has stepped in to announce the streamer’s upcoming release of the film, with a new date set for this May.

Helmed by The Big Sick director Michael Showalter, The Lovebirds stars Kumail Nanjiani and Issa Rae as a couple embroiled in a hit-and-run murder mystery, wherein the lovers are framed and left to flee the scene in a series of increasingly-wild escapades.

The Lovebirds will stream on Netflix beginning May 22nd.
