Disney is in the process of courting director Mark Romanek for its proposed live-action “re-imagining” of the classic fairy tale Cinderella. Romanek seems like a bit of an unlikely choice, since his previous works include Never Let Me Go and One Hour Photo.
These aren’t exactly lighthearted fairy tale material, but who knows, maybe his vision will help the adaption become something new and fresh and totally not 1998’s Ever After. The synopsis of the live-action Cinderella so far is that the Prince is trapped in a politically arranged engagement, and this engagement plan is threatened when he meets Cinderella. Sounds … familiar.
