DOC NYC starts this week, runs November 12-19

DOC NYC is one of my favorite film festivals in New York City. Each year, DOC NYC showcases some of the best non-fiction filmmaking from all over the world, including a number of Oscar winners and Oscar contenders.

DOC NYC starts on November 12th and runs until November 18th. The three major showcase screenings are as follows:

There’s lots of other great films being shown, including Joshua Oppenheimer’s The Look of Silence, Asif Kapadia’s Amy Winehouse doc Amy, Ethan Hawke’s Seymour: An Introduction, Kent Jones’ Hitchcock/Truffaut, Michael Moore’s Where to Invade Next, Kirby Dick’s The Hunting Ground, Alex Hammond and Ian Markiewicz Mexican wrestling doc Lucha Mexico, Brett Morgen’s Kurt Kobain: Montage of Heck, Alex Gibney’s Scientology doc Going Clear, and Matthew Heineman’s Cartel Land.
