Flixist Awards 2010: Best Film

0

2010 was a great year for movies. From animation to arthouse to generation defining film; we had it all. Most of the films up for award contention this year could have easily swept these awards any other year. It’s kind of sick how good the movies were to us this year (and also how very terrible they were).

Despite our love for a plethora of great films this year, awards season means one thing: we have to choose a best one. I can’t stress enough how every film that was voted for deserves this award. When awards season rolled around I couldn’t believe how many times I switched my favorite movie of the year to another one and then another one as I saw more and more. We’re sure you’ve got your favorite too, but Flixist’s Best Film of 2010 was…

Heralded as the film that defines the current constantly connected, information obsessed generation that many of us find ourselves a part of there is no arguing that The Social Network is a truly amazing piece of film making. Not only does it manage to capture the story of what has become one of the most important pieces of our society to date, but it also manages to encapsulate the torn ideas that we have about social networking as a whole. Despite being accused of being grossly inaccurate (mostly by people who it doesn’t display in a good light), the movie resounds on a deeper level thanks to amazing performances across the board, Aaron Sorkin’s masterful screenplay, the epic score and David Fincher’s subtly gorgeous directing.

Of course we all didn’t choose The Social Network as a winner as you can see below. Despite the film winning by a sizable margin there was still plenty of respect for Black Swan and three animated films crept in for votes.

What do you think? Remember that we’ll be revealing the reader’s best movies next week so make sure you go vote!
