We’re nearing the Japanese release of both of Studio Ghibli’s next films — Kaze Tachinu (The Wind Rises) comes out on July 20 and Takahata Isao’s Kaguya-hime no Monogatari (The Tale of Princess Kaguya) hits this Fall. To celebrate and promote movie theaters in Japan are showing off giant Studio Ghibli murals that document the 21 films they’ve made since 1986. In other words, a mural of some of the best animated films since 1986.
My wife and I have just bought a house and I think if I slip her enough drinks I’ll be able to convince her that one of the rooms should have this mural as its wall paper. Then every day I can come down and wonder why I’m not watching a Studi Ghibli movie. I’m sure one of the theaters will let me take it, though I don’t know if the largest one, which stands 3.9m tall and 25.2m wide will fit.
