Hit book series The Baby-Sitters Club heading to Netflix

In the late 80s early 90s, young adult novels had a very different meaning. They were all about adventures in babysitting or solving childhood mysteries. Now, Netflix is bringing that back with a The Baby-Sitters Club show. They have finally revealed the first poster for their show based on the hit book series. It’s an exact recreation of the very first book in the series, Kristy’s Great Idea. I read this series religiously growing up including all the spin-offs and mystery titles.

The Babysitters Club did get the film treatment a long time ago with a single standalone film that came out in 1995. It was not memorable, to say the least.

The new Netflix series looks to go back to the original roots with its first season consisting of 10 episodes each 30 minutes long. The show stars Sophie Grace (Kristy Thomas), Malia Baker (Mary- Anne Spier), Momona Tamada(Claudia Kishi), Shay Rudolph (Stacey McGill), and Xochitl Gomez (Dawn Schafer). Alicia Silverstone is set to play Kristy’s mom. With them recreating the look and feel of the cover art it gives me great hope that this series will make the story relevant again. It also should be an interesting watch. No date yet to announce but it is set to air on Netflix sometime this year, and I can’t wait!
