James Spader cast as Ultron in Avengers sequel

James Spader has been cast as the mighty mechanical menace Ultron for The Avengers: Age of Ultron, which is slated for May 1, 2015. Spader’s got a long history of playing great scuzzy characters on film and television, and he should make a solid Ultron in this upcoming film.

Ultron is a major Avengers villain, and it’ll be interesting to see what his origin is in these films. In the comics he was created by Hank Pym (Ant-Man/Giant Man), though Pym apparently does not play a role in these films. Perhaps Ultron will be a Tony Stark creation instead.

How do you feel about James Spader as Ultron?

After the cut, James Spader in an immortal moment from the film Tuff Turf, which co-stars Robert Downey Jr. Wait… Maybe this is the true origin of the cinematic Ultron.
