Jim Steranko’s Indiana Jones concept art

The Indiana Jones concept art has made it’s way onto the internet a few times since it was printed in a 2006 issue of the magazine Empire, but it saw a recent surge of digital distribution yesterday and why not? This stuff is amazing.

With direction by George Lucas and Steven Speilberg, the iconic appearance of Indie has been attributed to psychedelic comic book artist Jim Steranko, who worked as project conceptualist on Indiana Jones and Francis Ford Coppola’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula (that’s a mouthful). That second one isn’t so readily available. If there’s one thing that 1992 Dracula got right it was the character design, so why wasn’t that yesterday’s big reveal?

After the jump you’ll find the remaining available collection of his Indiana Jones work, with a couple examples of comic book art for those who don’t know Steranko by name.
