Julie Andrews isn’t in Mary Poppins Returns, but she is in Aquaman

There was certainly some disappointment going around when we all learned that Julie Andrews won’t be appearing in next months Mary Poppins Returns. However the Julie Fandrews out there (which I’m pretty sure is what they call themselves) won’t have to wait long to hear her voice on the big screen. Just two days later she will be appearing as Karathen in Aquaman.

This casting was previously unknown and as such very little is known about her character. What we do know is that she will play a role in helping Arthur Curry, the titular Aquaman, unite Atlantis with the surface world. We also know that she will be voicing the character rather than appearing in person. This means that her character will no doubt be some weird fish person created with CGI effects.

This certainly makes Aquaman stand out in the sea of super hero movies. It seems like every super hero movie tries to get a bigger star than the last to fit in wherever possible, and to their credit, Julie Andrews is a very big star. Her film roles are becoming more and more rare, and it makes each of her appearances feel even more unique and valuable. We’ll just have to wait and see if the rest of the movie can keep up.

Aquaman will be released in theaters on December 21.
