Michael Keaton is the Birdman

No, he is not playing Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael Keaton is set to star in director Alejandro González Iñárritu’s (21 Grams, Babel) next project, Birdman. The film follows a former actor who had once played a superhero and he is trying to set up a Broadway play based on a Raymond Carver short story to reclaim his former glory.

Also thrown into the mix are Emma Stone, Naomi Watts, and Zach Galifianakis. Stone will play Keaton’s daughter who is just out of rehab. Watts will be an actress in the play, and Galifianakis will be a conniving producer for the production.

It’ll be interesting to see yet another film by Keaton being potentially released this year. I do hope that he’ll throw out homage to his former role in Tim Burton’s Batman. This could be a career boost that he needs; hopefully RoboCop turns out well to help boost him along further.
