Mulder & Scully are back in The X-Files reboot trailer

Dana Scully and Fox Mulder are back doing what they do best, which is… well… being Scully and Mulder.

Fox dropped a brief trailer for the six-episode miniseries reboot of The X-Files, which comes to TV in January. Check it out below.

My friend Leah Schnelbach over at caught the X-Files panel and premiere episode during the New York Comic Con. She mentioned that the six-episode miniseries will feature two bookending conspiracy-themed episodes with monster-of-the-week episodes in between. I can only assume the middle episodes will carry forward the overarching conspiracy plotline, but that remains to be seen.

The bookend episodes will be handled by series creator Chris Carter, while the monster-of-the-week episodes will be handled by Darin Morgan, Glen Morgan, and James Wong, who were the best writers from The X-Files‘ original run. (These were the guys responsible for the fiendishly funny “Jose Chung’s From Outer Space” and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre-esque “Home.” Yeah, they are awesome.)

In addition to the trailer, there’s also an ominous poster for the series featuring The Smoking Man, which you can see in the gallery. (Glen Morgan and James Wong are also responsible for the episode “Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man.” Seriously, they are that awesome.)

Are you excited for The X-Files‘ return? Let us know in the comments.
