Netflix Now: Joseph Khan’s Detention Edition

Here’s a partially true fact about me: If someone wants to be my friend, they have to watch Joseph Khan’s Detention. If I spend any amount of time with a person and they haven’t seen it, I hound them about it until they do. Before, I needed to pull out my Blu-ray and invite them over for movie night and whatnot.

But now I don’t have to, because Detention is on Netflix. If you haven’t seen it (and let’s face it: you probably haven’t), then you are under new marching orders. Whatever you thought you were going to be doing today is no longer your top priority. Watching Detention is.

Detention is also one of the only films I definitely underrated back when I reviewed it. (That score was posted under our older, much stricter system. My decision to cut to go with an 89 was based on the fact that I think the editing during some of the fights isn’t great and the end cuts to black about half a second too soon. (We were really strict back then.)) Were I to review it today, it would be at least five points higher. If such a thing were to exist, it would be a personal 100.

What I’m trying to say is that it’s probably my favorite movie ever made. And if you don’t like it, then we really can’t be friends. You don’t have to love it as much as I do (that may not be possible anyway), but anyone who can’t appreciate its brilliance is pretty much definitely a bad person.

(How’s that for raising expectations, huh?)

Also, other things were added, but none of them matter, not even Spaceballs. But if you’re curious, you can find the list below.
