Netflix Now: Pre-Christmas Xmas Party Edition

0

Well folks, it’s that weekend when everyone you know is throwing an early Xmas party of some kind. By Sunday morning as the sun begins to lighten the winter sky, you’ll likely have three kinds of nog in your system, five kinds of stains on your holiday sweater, and you’ll have lost that cheap Santa cap you’d grown very fond of through the night. You’ll also be humming “Feliz Navidad” to yourself, which means that Christmastime really is upon us. Such is life, amigo, and yes, it is wonderful.

If you hadn’t guessed, the long intro means that it’s a bit of a light week on Netflix Now. The biggest addition is The Adventures of Tintin, Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson’s love letter to Hergé. I’m particularly interested in finally seeing Pina since I dig director Wim Wenders for Wings of Desire and Paris, Texas. Though actually, I’m also intrigued by A Necessary Death, a mockumentary that Alec quite enjoyed.

In terms of kitsch classics this week, we can all rejoice that FDR: American Badass is now on Watch Instantly. To be honest, it’s probably better than Hyde Park on Hudson, or at the very least it’s probably more enjoyable.

See what’s new on Netflix Instant after the cut. I’ve also included a classic Christmas jam and a live recording of James Brown in which he tells the truth about hot pants (that breakdown starts around 3:10, but the most important part starts at 6:30).
