By Once again, Netflix is going to increase their rates due to an increased surge in popularity. After Netflix CEO Reed Hastings revealed their positive quarterly earnings, he stated that new customers should expect to pay one to two dollars more each month for their Netflix subscription (with older customers being “grandfathered into the price increase”). But the troubling aspect of this is that these changes won’t take place until at least a year from now, when it’ll go unnoticed.
See, thanks to the increase in original programming, greater amount of licenses, and movie studios beginning to see Netflix and VOD as a more viable option, we can only expect our rates to go up. But while I’m not entirely angry about and extra dollar or two, I’m angry that our acceptaance of such a thing may illicit other hikes in the future. I’m just conflicted. As troubling as it is, I’m still drawn to Netflix Instant for quick entertainment (I can’t for OitNB season 2). Oh well, I guess?
