Netflix Now: Smurfs Fan Fiction Edition

Oh brother. The Smurfs 2 comes out today because… oh, let’s be frank, it’s because of a bunch of no-good dumb-dumbs who probably also watched the two (TWO!) live-action Alvin and the Chipmunks movies. I’m not bitter because these things are making money while my Smurfs and Alvin and the Chipmunks fan fiction remains unread. (I understand that politically-charged interspecies erotica with extensive footnotes alienates much of the reading public.) No, I’m bitter because there’s way better children’s entertainment out there than this rotgut.

So you may have guessed from that non sequitur intro there’s not much on Netflix Instant this week. The two things that really stand out for me are Cate Shortland’s Lore, a film about Germany in the immediate aftermath of WWII, and WWE for All Mankind: The Life & Career of Mick Foley. High school me and adult me agree that Mick Foley’s awesome.

After the cut, check out the handful of offerings on Netflix Watch Instantly. Also enjoy some fine children’s entertainments from some of the first movies I remember watching as a very young boy.

New additions to Netflix Watch Instantly apply only to readers in the United States. For those in other parts of the world, your choices may vary.
