The writing is on the wall for the Netflix’s Marvel shows, but that doesn’t mean that the ones that were in production before the great culling began won’t be coming out. Both Punisher and Jessica Jones still have seasons coming, and now we know that we’ll be getting season 2 of Punisher in January. We don’t have an exact date since Netflix is weird and doesn’t let folks know way ahead of time, but their latest video of stuff coming to Netflix in January definitely confirms Punisher will be there.

The first season of the show was actually my favorite recent Marvel/Netflix season, though I’m so far behind right now that’s not saying much. I know it wasn’t loved by everyone, but I love Jon Bernthal in the role and thought he carried even the bad episodes.

Of course, we won’t be seeing too much more of him as Marvel and Disney’s dust-up over the shows means that it will be canceled the second it hits. Reports say that Netflix wanted to shorten the season orders to 7-8 episodes (a good idea), while Disney didn’t want to lose the money those extra episodes brought in through licensing and probably wanted control of the characters anyway. Discussions broke down and now no more Punisher after this season.
