New Spider-Man costume looks like an old Spider-Man costume

Two days ago, the fine Siobhan shared some set photos of the new Spider-Man costume in action. Today, MTV shared a close-up of the aforementioned costume, which will be at the end of this post. Oh, I know you guys better than I know myself and you’re just gonna scroll to the bottom anyways, so here it is below.

Spider-Man aficionados may find a similarity between the rebooted Spider-Man costume and the one seen in Spider-Man 2099. The foremost thing is the absence of a belt, giving ol’ Peter Parker a onesie costume (with footies!). Another similarity are the lines that climb up Spidey’s arms. And while my header may not illustrate it very obviously, the 2099 costume is brighter than the two-shades-darker costume we’re used to with the 616 Spider-Man. Keep in mind, however, that this is most likely just the costume used for stunt/action scenes, so the webbing details are missing. Otherwise, this is what we’re gonna be seeing in theaters come 2012.

So what do you guys think? Are you a fan of the brighter hues and unified look? Or are you about to troll the Marvel forums over how pissed you are that the “belt” has been removed?
