New Wonder Woman trailer covers Diana’s origins, life on Themyscira

With all the recent tumult over The Batman, it seems like so much of the DCEU’s viability is riding on the success of Wonder Woman. Star Gal Gadot and director Patty Jenkins hope to craft a solid film that delivers at the box office and isn’t critically panned, which is much harder to do in the DCEU than it sounds. (I’m looking at you, Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad.)

I’m looking forward to Wonder Woman more than Zack Snyder’s Justice League, a team-up movie that will probably be full of dour meatheads doing dour, meathead things like a bunch of dour meatheads. Stupid meatheads. Dour.

Warner Bros. released a new trailer for Wonder Woman over the weekend, which offers a glimpse at Wonder Woman’s origins. Here’s a taste of the martial training she undergoes on the sci-fi/fantasy Amazonian paradise of Themyscira.

WONDER WOMAN - Official Origin Trailer

I’m still cautiously optimistic about the movie since it doesn’t look like the other films in the DCEU. I wonder how the film will deal with Wonder Woman eccentrically Clark Kent-ing things around in London. We’ll see how it goes. But honestly–the character Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) is the worst… the worst.

To coincide with the new trailer, Warner Bros. also released a new Wonder Woman poster. It looks like something right out of Successories, and I prefer the poster from last summer released around the time of last year’s San Diego Comic Con footage. Give it a look below and in the gallery.

Wonder Woman lassos its way into theaters on June 2, 2017.
