Rosamund Pike joins Wrath of the Titans

Last year’s Clash of the Titans was not beloved by many, especially not Flixist’s reviewers. It did strong numbers at the box-office though and in the complex Hollywood business formula, profit = sequel. Dem’s some damn fine mathematics right there, because Wrath of the Titans will be hurtling into cinemas next year.

One of Clash‘s better aspects was Gemma Arterton, who didn’t have a lot to do but did look gorgeous doing it. Despite criticising the writing (telling GQ: “At one point I have to say, ‘I imagine you’re sympathetic to that plight…’ I’m not slating the writing but people don’t talk like that. It’s hard to act that stuff.”), she’s returning for a second turn as Io, alongside Sam Worthington’s Perseus and Liam Neeson doing his growly-beardy-godly schtick as Zeus. Joining the cast and replacing Alexa Davalos as Andromeda, is another gorgeous English actress and former Bond girl, Rosamund Pike (Die Another Day, An Education, Barney’s Version). In taking the role, Pike reportedly beat out Captain America‘s Hayley Atwell, another lovely Brit. We definitely need to get an Anglo-themed Some Like It Hot going at some point…
