It’s time to stack a new rumor on top of the previous rumor about Doctor Strange. There’s some word today that Viggo Mortensen might be playing the good doctor in the sequel to Thor.
The rumors come via the Twitter account of Roger Wardell and conjecture by /Film. Wardell has apparently been as reliable as the Eye of Agamotto when it comes to inside information on Marvel movies. The rumor is that Marvel and Mortensen are in talks for an unspecified role in Thor: The Dark World, and /Film thinks it’s Doctor Strange given the look of the actor and the character.
No word on the exact plot of Thor: The Dark World yet, though we do know it will involve Dark Elves (look through your Walt Simonson back issues). Christopher Eccleston will be playing Malekith the Accursed and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje will play Kurse. In addition, we know that Kat Dennigs has an expanded role. Maybe Doctor Strange villains like Dormammu or Baron Mordo will pop up in the film as well — who knows?
I’m holding out hope that Mortensen is really in talks to play Beta Ray Bill.[Roger Wardell on Twitter via /Film]
