Russell Crowe in talks for Darren Aronofsky’s Noah

Darren Aronofsky’s Noah has been in gestation for a long time – if in a pretentious mood, you might say it’s positively antediluvian at this point – but it looks as though the project finally setting sail with confirmation that Russell Crowe, who has experience of nautical derring-do courtesy of Master And Commander: The Other Side Of The World, is in talks for the lead.

The actor is reportedly weighing up his options between Aronofsky’s sci-fi tinged Biblical epic or the Akiva Goldsman adaptation of Winter’s Tale. A choice between the man who directed the masterful Black Swan or the writer of Batman & Robin (and the line “What killed the dinosaurs? The Ice Age!”)? That’s a toughie. There’s also talk of Liam Neeson being targeting for the movie, given his talent for growing truly glorious beards, possibly in a villain role. As the rain, presumably.
