Sonic the Hedgehog 2 speeds to an April 2022 release

0

Paramount Pictures is in no mood to wait around on Sonic the Hedgehog 2. After being confirmed as in development back in May, actor Ben Schwartz (who plays Sonic in the film) has confirmed that the sequel is racing to an April 8, 2022, release. That’s a little less than two years between films and is a tremendously quick turnaround.

Many were skeptical of the first film before its release, but some relatively positive reviews and an excellent box-office haul have shown that Paramount is onto something. It could just be that video game adaptations are all the rage right now. Sonic was also not trash, so that’s a plus.

The after-credits sequence in the first movie confirmed that Sonic’s pal Tails would be making an appearance, so that’s likely going to be the big addition this time. We could even see the introduction of other classic Sonic characters such as Knuckles and Amy Rose.

Whatever does happen with this continuation, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 isn’t wasting time eating chili dogs. It’ll be here before we know it and might even be the first film any of us sees after the coronavirus pandemic begins to subside. I really hope not, but you never know!
