Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi gets hit with a small delay

0

In a strange bit of news today, Disney announced that the upcoming Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi series will be receiving a small delay from its originally planned release date. Revealed last month to be debuting on the 45th anniversary of the series (May 25), the show will now premiere on May 27, 2022. To make up for the delay, two episodes will be available that day instead of the regular one.

I’m guessing the minor delay is likely a production issue more than anything. It could also be done to scheduling, which Obi-Wan Kenobi was set to disrupt. Disney has firmly established that Marvel shows debut on Wednesday and Star Wars shows on Friday, but the original premiere for this series was in the middle of the week. This small delay pushes it to Friday, reinforcing the established pattern.

Whatever the reason, I suppose those interested will need to mark their calendars a few days later than initially thought. I’m not sure I can even muster up any interest in seeing more Star Wars at this point, but reactions around the internet seem to be in favor of Ewan McGregor’s return. For their sake, I hope the show delivers so we can get over all of the ire that Star Wars fans have.
