The Last Blockbuster Doc gets first trailer

For many readers across North America, going to Blockbuster on a Friday night was a normal pastime. Whether it was to rent the latest and greatest or an old favorite Blockbuster was here for us way before Netflix was. With the rise of steaming platforms the chain is sadly all but gone. One store is left standing in Bend, Oregon and a new documentary titled The Last Blockbuster is scheduled to premiere in May giving us a true look back.

Popmotion Pictures is the brainchild behind this feature-length documentary and they have been working on this project since 2018 following a successful Kickstarter campaign. The film will have its premiere on May 8 in Bend, Oregon at the Tower Theater with an after-party at the Blockbuster. For those not able to go to the screening, they do have plans to release the film on DVD, Blu-Ray and ironically VHS for their highest backers on Kickstarter. I sincerely hope I get a chance to check it out as Blockbuster will always have a special place in my heart. Not only did I get films I needed to watch for school there, I also rented video games before I owned them. This documentary will hopefully serve as a great historical piece for generations to learn about how it used to be.
