The Monuments Men delayed to 2014

The extremely charming The Monuments Men, directed by George Clooney, is unfortunately going to be pushed from its December 18th release date to sometime in 2014 (missing out on Oscar season). According to The LA Times, George Clooney stated that they just couldn’t finish the visual effects in time:

We just didn’t have enough time. If any of the effects looked cheesy, the whole movie would look cheesy. We simply don’t have enough people to work enough hours to finish it…It wasn’t going to be finished, and I wouldn’t want to have my name on it. You don’t want it to look like a film that was all done in the computer.

While this is completely terrible news, you have to admire the man’s commitment to his work. I’m sure the extra time will give us an even better movie. How much extra time? Sony wouldn’t say other than a vague February 2014. Given the immense amount of competition this season, I’m sure this move is for the best. Anyone else sad by the delay?
