Two new Twilight Zone trailers focus in on individual episodes

Oh, what convenient timing! Just as Us once again catapults Jordan Peele in the public consciousness in a big way, CBS All Access has released two new trailers for his upcoming reboot of The Twilight Zone

Is it a reboot if the show was always an anthology? Rebirth? Return?

Anyway, the new trailers focus in on two of the upcoming episodes for the show, “The Comedian” and “Nightmare at 30,000 Feet.” The former looks like a traditional “sell your soul” narrative, but I’m sure something else will pop up in there considering the show and Peele don’t just do normal. The latter seems like somewhat of a suspense thriller with horror overtones. Obviously, the idea of a who-done-it on a plane isn’t new territory, but it looks visually interesting, to say the least. Given Twilight Zone‘s iconic history with airplanes and the direct reference of the this episode’s title to that original, it will be interesting to see what the episode brings.

What’s very clear from these two trailers, however, is that there will be social underpinnings to Peele’s show. That’s not new to the series at all, but one wonders how prevalent they’ll be throughout the entire series. No matter what, this looks to actually be a winner for CBS All Access, though it still won’t prompt me to pay monthly for it. I’m fine with shelling out $9.99 to binge both this and Star Trek: Discovery once a year.
