While we here at Flixist have been using Batman vs. Superman as a shorthand way of referring to the Man of Steel followup starring Batman, it was never the official title. David Goyer has been simply considering calling it that. There’s a very real danger that the film could be titled something else entirely. Something probably stupid.
For example, here are a few domain names Warner Bros registered (found by the good folks at Fusible) with possible Batman vs Superman titles:
- Man of Steel Battle the Knight
- Man of Steel Beyond Darkness
- Man of Steel Black of Knight
- Man of Steel Darkness Falls
- Man of Steel Knight Falls
- Man of Steel Marry the Night
- Man of Steel Shadow of the Night
- Man of Steel the Blackest Hour
- Man of Steel The Darkness Within
All of these subtitles are terrible. While I’m sure they’ll end up just using the Batman vs. Superman moniker everyone is used to (for simplicity and box office appeal), I’m still worried a 12th hour decision could change the whole thing to something dumb like this.
