Weekend Watchlist: More movies about animals

Here we are again for another look at the weekend that was! We came, we saw, we watched. The question now is “what.”

I finally had the chance to see (500) Days of Summer, which pleased me being a huge fan of Zooey Deschanel. However, I ended up being pretty torn on the whole movie. While it had some brilliant touches, on the whole the movie just felt too familiar. The few original things it did were great, but so much of it was ho hum.

I skipped out on the theaters over the weekend, so if you saw anything, be sure to let us know in the comment. I have to find someone who saw that damn Madea movie.

If you happened to somehow not watch a movie about animals last week, you’ll have plenty of chances to do so this coming Friday, as two more films with animals in their titles come out in theaters. African Cats, a movie about cats from Africa, is the first of the bunch. Honestly, I might go see that myself; I do love me some African Cats.

There’s also Water for Elephants, which has a slightly less descriptive title but nevertheless betrays the film’s inclusion of elephants and water. How are they related? How will we solve this mystery?

There’s also another Tyler Perry movie coming out. I have no more to say on the subject. If you’re planning to see any of these or one of the many limited releases this week, let us know in the comments.
