Wonder Woman 2 starts filming, gets official title, rocks 80s fashion

Oh, Wonder Woman. The only thing DC has really done right. Thank goodness you’re returning to us. WB announced today that production of the film has started, and they dropped the film’s official title, Wonder Woman 1984 or WW84, along with some images.

It’s a pretty self-explanatory title as the movie is taking place in 1984 and… wait is that Chris Pine? Yea, so it seems Steve Trevor, Wonder Woman’s love, is back somehow after dying at the end of the first film to save the world and giving Diana a reason to get all angry and beat up the bad guy. Man, the end of Wonder Woman was such a letdown compared to the rest of the film, but even still, doesn’t bringing him back to life negate a pretty powerful moment?

Anyway, we see Pine here in some epic 80s clothes looking pretty confused, possibly about being alive at all. It’s obviously unclear why he’s back, but it’s pretty exciting he’s back as their relationship was so fantastically executed in the first 2/3rds of the first film. The movie also sees Gal Gadot returning as Wonder Woman and Kristen Wiig playing villain The Cheetah. Plot points are pretty under wraps aside from that.

With Patty Jenkins behind the camera, and basically the entire crew returning from the first film, it’s looking like we’re going to get a second good DCEU movie.

Wonder Woman 1984 will release nationwide in theaters on November 1, 2019.
