Antonio Banderas unearths a role in Sony’s Uncharted film

Even with all of the troubles that Uncharted is facing with directors and delays, Sony has kept production going forward. In the latest bit of news from the set, Spanish star Antonio Banderas has unearthed a role in Nathan Drake’s silver screen debut. The news was revealed to Variety along with the casting of Sophia Ali (Faking It) and Tati Gabrielle (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina).

Ruben Fleischer is now attached to direct after previous director Travis Knight dropped out. I honestly don’t remember if this is the sixth or seventh change, but the film is currently on track for a March 5, 2021 release. Art Marcum and Matt Holloway have penned the script while Atlas Entertainment, Arad Productions, and PlayStation Productions will be producing.

As for Banderas’ presence, I can only imagine he’ll play one of Sully’s long-lost acquaintances. Sully seems to get around and has a ton of enemies in each country and Banderas fits that role to a tee.
