Fast and Furious 10 may end up being two parts

Fast Nine isn’t even out yet and we’re already learning bits about its inevitable sequel. In an interview with Total Film, actor Vin Diesel made an off-hand comment that basically confirms Fast and Furious 10 will be a two-parter. In discussing how Universal has invested a lot in this saga and how the series has been set up for spin-offs, Diesel said, “should Fast 10 parts one and two be the conclusion, it would be nice for this world to continue for generations to come.”

It was pretty obvious that Fast Nine wasn’t going to be the end, but I’m not sure I understand the point of a two-part film in this series. Each sequel builds off of the last movie in an MCU-lite style, so why start calling things “Part One” or “Part Two?” Why not just make them Fast 10 and Fast 11? I’m probably just getting caught up in semantics.

I guess if you were worried about fewer Fast and Furious films coming out after Nine, then you can put those fears to rest.
