First image from Silent Hill: Revelations

As we’ve previously reported, and despite a poor box office showing from the original, Silent Hill is getting a sequel titled Silent Hill Revelations. Shooting began on the project today in Toronto, and the casting of Heather Mason was finally announced as well. Heather will be played by relative-unknown Adelaide Clements, who is starring alongside Kit Harrington. The film is set to follow the video game Silent Hill 3’s plot. We’ve also received the first picture of Adelaide as Heather (which you can see in the gallery), and she does rather look the part, despite the gun. Gunplay, for those that aren’t fans of the video game, is not a big part of Silent Hill, nor should it be. You can read the press release, along with the official synopsis, below the cut.

While the first Silent Hill was dogcrap on the bottom of my shoes, I can’t help but be hopeful here. While I don’t know how they’re going to introduce Harry Mason’s daughter despite the fact that Harry hasn’t been present in the movie continuity yet, so that’s something to wonder about. The synopsis reads like it’s definitely possibly the movie will follow SH3 fairly closely, so we’ll have to see how things turn out. If they can nail the atmosphere, the oppressive, psychological dread of Silent Hill, then the rest doesn’t matter.
