Horrible Bosses writers directing a Vacation rebootquel

I really am happy that John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are getting more high profile work after Horrible Bosses. I loved that movie, and the writers deserve from credit for that. However, this I don’t really get. Daley and Goldstein are now set to direct and write a reboot/sequel for the infamous Chevy Chase vehicle National Lampoon’s Vacation. They call it a reboot/sequel because the film will center around an adult Rusty Griswold, presumably taking his family on a vacation, likely with grizzled Grandpa Clark in tow.

So much of the original Vacation movie worked just as a matter of time and place; after all, not a lot could really touch Chevy Chase in his prime. I mean, what are they going to do, bring back Anthony Michael Hall, preferably dressed as his character from that one episode of Community? Actually. Hey wait. What if this is really just an excuse for an extended episode of Community?

GENIUS! FOUR STARS! BRING FORTH ABED FOR MY AMUSEMENT.
