IMAX Star Wars: The Force Awaken’s 70 mm release locations

If you haven’t heard yet because you don’t like looking outside or going on the Internet, Star Wars: The Force Awakens tickets went on sale last night to coincide with the new, totally amazing trailer that landed. This means that IMAX can finally reveal where the hell it’s screening the film in 70mm.

If you didn’t know part of the movie was shot in 70mm and if you’ve never seen something in this format it is as close to a religious experience you’ll get outside of God touching you and telling you to part some water. As such if you’re anywhere near the below listed theaters get tickets and see the movie.

The film is also going to screen in IMAX’s new IMAX With Laser system. It sounds like something Dr. Evil would come up with, but IMAX promises that it will provide “audiences with the sharpest, brightest, clearest and most vivid digital images ever, combined with a whole new level of immersive audio.” I doubt it’ll be as good as 70mm, but probably a step above branded IMAX theaters, which should look stunning none the less.

The 70mm prints are running in some odd locations so make sure to check out below as you may be closer to a screening than you think.

There is a bit more. IMAX is doing some giveaways as well. Seems fair since they charge an arm and a leg to get into the theater.

Star Wars Saturdays: Each Saturday, from December 19 to January 9, at Regal theatres the first 500 guests who experience Star Wars: The Force Awakens in IMAX will receive a collectible ticket featuring unique Star Wars: The Force Awakens art. New art will be revealed each week.

Star Wars Sundays: Each Sunday, from December 20 to January 10, guests who purchase a ticket to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens in IMAX 3D will receive an AMC-exclusive Star Wars print from artist Dan Mumford. A new poster will be revealed each week.

You can check out that first poster below.
