Netflix’s Triple Frontier lands an action-packed trailer

Triple Frontier looks like the kind of movie that’s been in production since 2010 and been handed off from one director to another. That’s probably because it has been. The film is finally, finally releasing on Netflix this year, but so far the trailers have been kind of underwhelming despite the incredible cast the movie boasts. The entire concept seems kind of B-grade overall, with a lot of silly things happening in the name of action.

Now, maybe that means we’re going to get a fun little action thriller landing on Netflix, and there’s no harm in that. It’s just easy to see why this one may have never gotten to the big screen, and while J.C. Chandor’s A Most Violent Year was striking I’m not sure his magic will roll over to an action film quite as easily. I’m also kind of bummed they didnt’ just go all out action. I would have loved a quick and dirty action movie about a gang of elite soldiers trapped in a house surrounded by drug cartel thugs. Instead, things get all dramatic, but not in a good way. I can see why Kathryn Bigelow dropped off.

Triple Frontier will hit Netflix on March 13.
