Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop saddles up this November

0

It’s almost time to jam with Edward, as Netflix has confirmed that their live-action adaptation of Shinichirō Watanabe’s legendary Cowboy Bebop will premiere November 19th, 2021. We’ve got a lot of things to be thankful for in November, and the crew of the Bebop is looking to be one more.

Netflix has also provided some hot new photos of the crew in character, with John Cho, Mustafa Shakir and Daniella Pineda picking up the leads Spike Spiegel, Jet Black, and Faye Valentine. And, as a diehard Bebop fan, they look good! The costumes are excellent! IMDb credits Jane Holland for an episode, so major respect to her for the spot-on threads.

The upcoming Cowboy Bebop comes from Andre Nemec and Jeff Pinker, with scripts from Christopher Yost. Crucial to the Bebop atmosphere, original composer Yoko Kanno returns with all-new music for the series, and director Watanabe acts as a consultant on the production.

It’s been a long road for the Cowboy Bebop adaptation, with covid delays and decades of false-starts before that. The 26-episode series (and subsequent feature film) has cemented itself as one of the most iconic anime of all-time with its eclectic episodes, soulful score, and stellar cast of tired and too cool bounty hunters.

There’s a lot riding on Cowboy Bebop, but fingers crossed the talent in front of the camera and behind pulled off something special. I’d bet a few Woolong on it.
