New Realeases Tuesday: 6/28/2011

So, most of Flixist did not enjoy Sucker Punch. The review generated an 18-comment-long discussion. The film had such a profoundly negative effect on me that I almost came to blows with my cousin Danny at our local Buffalo Wild Wings when he debated with me over how many planes of existence the film takes place on. Now you can see what all the hub-bub is about and pick up Zak Snyder’s first attempt at ORIGINAL CONTENT PLZ DON’T STEAL. It’s not all bad, mind you. There’s some genuinely cool ideas buried deep down in there, especially the awesome steam-punk German soldiers.

Also out this week is the comically awful Beastly, the less comically bad Season of the Witch starring Flixist’s favorite madman Nic Cage, one of my favorite films of 2010 (that everyone else hated), Warrior’s Way, and for all you Middle-earth nerds, The Lord of the Rings: Extended Edition is out on Blu-ray.

It’s kind of slim pickings this week, but as always, the full list of releases is after the jump. Lemme know what you’re picking up this week and if there’s anything I didn’t mention that is worth checking out!
