New Releases, week of 8/30/2011: Coen Crazy edition

Another Madea film and a Disney movie about going to prom are the only big releases this week. It’s like being stranded in the desert and the only water around tastes like somebody dipped their testicles in it: drinkable, but you really wish that a guy didn’t put his balls in it. To be fair, I’ve never seen any Tyler Perry films and am just judging a fat, sassy book by its cover, but I still sleep just fine at night. Prom looks more palatable, but its still a tremendously light week and I can only hope that next week has more to offer.

That being said, there are a few diamonds in the rough: a Blu-ray Coen Brothers collection containing Blood Simple, Fargo, Miller’s Crossing, and Raising Arizona, as well as the delightfully twisted-looking The Perfect Host, starring David Hyde Pierce of Frasier fame as a mad man hosting a dinner party. Both are calling out to my wallet, how about yours?

As always, the full list of releases is after the jump, and lemme know what you’re picking up this week and if there’s anything I didn’t mention that is worth checking out!
