New Wonder Woman 1984 trailer thaws the Cold War

0

Though it’s been pushed around by coronavirus delays, Wonder Woman 1984 gets a new trailer at today’s DC FanDome event, showcasing Diana’s new feline problems and Cold War crises.

The new trailer sees demigoddess Diana (Gal Gadot) cracking the whip once again, with Soviet and American tensions wreaking all sorts of superpowered mayhem across the globe. Media mogul Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal) and Barbara Minerva serve as the main foes for ‘ol WW to square off against. Minerva, played by Kristen Wiig, is perhaps better known as Cheetah, and is definitely not an extra from Cats. The stage is set for an atomic altercation, with the new trailer showcasing no shortage of slow-mo action and mayhem, as well as a hapless Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) coming to terms with ’80s era fashion. A riot.

Patty Jenkins returns as director (and apparently plans to stick around even a bit longer, for a third film) with Wonder Woman 1984 slated for a theatrical release this October 2nd, 2020. Tenuous as theatrical releases are these days, it’s nice to at least have a new trailer for the sequel, hot off the heels of the (perhaps-unexpectedly) successful first film.
