Paramount and Skyglass confirm another Scream is on the way

Scream

In a not-so-surprising bit of news today, Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media have announced that a new Scream sequel is currently in the works. The success of this year’s Scream was so palpable that the town of Woodsboro will have to endure another string of killings from Ghostface for our sick enjoyment. We’re all monsters.

If you liked the latest film, you’ll be happy to know that directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are returning to helm this sixth installment. James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick will also be co-writing the script, ensuring that it will at least stay in tone with the latest romp.

With both studios wanting to capitalize on the Scream craze, principal photography is set to begin this summer. “We are tremendously grateful to the fans around the world who enthusiastically received our film,” said both companies in a statement to the press. “We can’t wait for audiences to see what Radio Silence, writers Jamie & Guy, and Project X have in store for our Woodsboro family.”

The previous film saw the return of many stars from the original trilogy, so it stands to reason that a few more actors may make a comeback here. Much like past films, plot details are being kept secret to prevent any leaks. We may not even get a title until the film is a month or two away from release.
