Some Like it Hot: Donald Glover

There’s something about a guy with a sense of humor that’s extremely irresistible. Sure, attraction may start at someone’s appearance, but finding their funny side is really what does it for me. For this installment of SLIH, we’re moving on from the soft curves of the female body to the hard, masculine side of hotness. That’s right, boys. It’s time for some Man-Candy.

Donald Glover hasn’t gone terribly far in the movie industry yet, but it won’t be that way for long. He wrote, produced, and starred in 2009’s Mystery Team, and will have a role in The Hand Job in 2013. Most people will know him for his role of Troy in NBC’s Community, turning the role of the former high school meathead into something very sexy. Hit the jump to read more about this talented man and view a few less silly pictures.

Born in an Air Force base in 1983, Donald Glover was raised in Stone Mountain, Georgia. If that location sounds familiar, it might be because it’s also the home of Kenneth Parcell on 30 Rock. Not only did Glover write for the show, but he also appeared in minor roles in a few episodes and was both the composer and performer of the spooky, scary hit, “Werewolf Bar Mitzvah.”

Before 30 Rock, Glover’s writing could be seen in various shorts around the internet, often under the pseudonym “Derrick Comedy.” One of the more popular videos was “Blowjob Girl” with Ellie Kemper from The Office (Erin talking about her terrible BJs is, by the way, also awesome and oddly hot, though that might be because I’m safe from mangling).

Glover also has his hands in the music industry. He raps as Childish Gambino, and has had tracks available online since 2008. His new EP hit earlier this month, and he released his first music video for “Freaks and Geeks.” Dancing around and looking directly into the camera while talking about sex? Yes, please. While smokin’ hot, it’s also very NSFW for language.

Usually songs focused on a guy’s sexual prowess are a huge turn-off, but Glover’s sense of humor keeps it more light-hearted and strangely attractive. The subjects in his other songs range from money and fame to the difficulty in balancing relationships with career and the loneliness that brings. There aren’t too many people that are open about their insecurities, especially in such a public manner.

If Donald Glover approached me at a party with naughty intentions, I’d like to say that I would immediately forget my marriage vows and run away with him for a night of unbridled passion, beginning with a personalized song and ending the next morning with coffee in matching Troy and Abed in the Morning cups. More likely, I’d completely shut down and laugh awkwardly until he left, embarrassed at mistaking me for mentally together, and then write about the encounter on Facebook. Still, a girl can dream about a less likely circumstance, right?

If you’re into funny dudes, your libido has likely kicked in by now, so I’ll leave you with the gallery and suggestions on where to see the man in action. Keep on the lookout for more of his work- Donald Glover is going to be everywhere.
