Transformers is getting an animated spin-off…so yeah

Remember when we told you about Paramount’s Transformers think tank of writers (which included the likes of Robert Kirkman, Akiva Goldsman, and Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway among several others)? Well, here’s the first fruit of their labor: an animated spin-off film (not to be confused with the popular 80s animated film or any of their many, many animated incarnations on TV) that’ll focus on the Autobots and Deceptions Cybertronian origins and’ll probably focus on the war that wrecked their homeworld.

The Ant-Man duo of Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari is set to write, and there’s no real telling of how many film ideas sprouted from the workshop. Deadline writes that, in pitching to Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay, that five out of nine potential scripts have enough substance to turn into potential films. Regardless, Transformers is some kind of money making machine so I’m sure no one doubts that more films equal even more money. But I’m hoping, for all of our sake, that they’ll be worth watching.
