King Kong reboot Skull Island gets new title and release date

In case you’ve forgotten, Legendary has been inching closer and closer to bringing us another King Kong vs. Godzilla…or at least I hope that’s what’s going to happen. After the success of Godzilla, King Kong is next in line. Formerly titled Skull Island, Kong: Skull Island (because everything needs to be specific because movies) is a prequel/reboot starring the giant ape in his island home.

Jordan Vogt-Roberts is set to direct, Tom Hiddleston is set to star, and we’ve got a plot description:

KONG: SKULL ISLAND will fully immerse audiences in the mysterious and dangerous home of the king of the apes as a team of explorers ventures deep inside the treacherous, primordial island.  Legendary’s story honors the foundations of existing King Kong lore, but places it in an entirely new, distinct timeline.

Kong: Skull Island has now been bumped from 2016, and is now set to release March 10, 2017.
